About

It started with a Fujifilm X-T5 and a plan to try street photography.

With a camera way out of my league, I figured what better way to learn the settings than to shoot birds in my own backyard? I found myself waiting on cooperative hummingbirds, but it was the skittish oriole that became my obsession. When I did get a shot, everything but the bird was in focus more often than not.

Thinking it was just me, I quickly discovered through online searches that I was definitely not alone. That's when the jokes started coming to me—and I realized we didn't set out to become bird people. We just sort of... became bird people.

Bird Shot Co. exists for everyone else who's been there—the accidental birders. The ones who bought a camera for something else entirely and ended up crouched behind a bush at 6 a.m., chasing that one elusive bird that clearly has better things to do.

We're not here to pretend we're expert wildlife photographers with perfect autofocus and unlimited patience. And if you are, please don't rub it in our faces.

I found myself having fun making fun of my bad shots—the missed focus, the cursing at autofocus, the missing lens cap. The bad shots, the gear fails, and the moments that definitely weren't going according to plan. That's kind of the point.

We turn all of that into a shirt because if you're going to spend your weekend getting outsmarted by a songbird, you might as well get a good story (and a decent tee) out of it.

Our tees are unisex and printed on soft, durable blanks that hold up to actual wear—repeated washes, long drives to nowhere in particular, and whatever your next stakeout throws at them. No stiff prints. No designs fading after three washes. Just something comfortable enough to wear on the trail and honest enough to wear to brunch.

We've got three lines, depending on what kind of trouble you tend to get into: puns for the ones who can't resist a double entendre, self-deprecating gear-fail humor for the ones who've missed more shots than they've landed, and technical wordplay for the ones who'll actually get the joke about their aperture settings.

Missed Shots. Great Stories. Still Hooked.

That's us.

Probably you, too.
